ELISA Kit

 - ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is a popular format for detecting the presence of a particular substance using wet-lab biochemistry techniques.
>>>
The substance being analyzed is usually a protein or antigen. The ELISA plate is generally coated with an antibody that is specific to the substance of interest. The antibody will then bind the substance that is present in the sample and any non-specific substances can be washed away. Most ELISAs use a HRP-based enzymatic reaction to produce a color change. The intensity can be quantified using a spectrophotometer and reflects the amount of the substance of interest that is present in the sample. The OD values of the samples can then be compared to the OD values of a set of standards with known concentrations to determine the concentration of the substance of interest in the sample.

•

Monoclonal Antibody

 - Monoclonal antibodies are produced using immune cells that are fused with myeloma cells, and the resulting hybridomas produce unique clones the bind to a specific epitope.
>>>
Monoclonal antibodies can be raised against almost any substance, and they will then bind to that specific substance to aid in the detection or purification. This is important for the fields of medicine, biochemistry and molecular biology. MyBioSource has worked hard to provide a variety of products, including monoclonal antibodies that are reactive with a wide variety of species and can be used to study various disease states and physiological pathways.

•

Polyclonal Antibody

 - Polyclonal antibodies provide robust detection and are useful for identifying proteins with high homology to the protein that was used as an immunogen.
>>>
Compared to monoclonal antibodies which bind to specific epitope and can be too specific, polyclonal antibodies bind to multiple epitopes to offer greater sensitivity for detecting proteins that show minor variations in individual epitopes.

•

Polyclonal and Monoclonal Antibody Key Differences

 - Polyclonal antibodies are produced by injecting a host species with an immunogen.
>>>
Antibodies against the immunogen can then be purified from the serum of the animal. The purified fluid will contain a mixture of polyclonal antibodies that will bind to various epitopes throughout the immunogenic sequence. Polyclonal antibodies are typically less expensive to produce, and they are generally more suitable for applications in which binding to multiple epitopes will produce more favorable results, such as IP/ChIP.

•

Recombinant/Purified Protein

 - In order to properly characterize the structure and function of proteins, as well as the interactions between them, it is generally necessary to purify the protein of interest.
>>>
While this can be a laborious process, the result is an isolated, specific protein. The process often involves a combination of many methods that exploit differences between various proteins in binding affinity, physico-chemical properties, size and biological activity. We provide recombinant and purified native proteins that have been purified using a variety of methods including nickel affinity chromatography.

•

Secondary Antibody

 - While primary antibodies are bind directly to the protein of interest, secondary antibodies are primarily used for immunolabeling.
>>>
Secondary antibodies are often conjugated to substances that will enable the visualization of the primary antibody, such as HRP or fluorophores. The Fab domain binds to the Fc domain of the primary antibody and because the Fc domain is consistent within the same animal class, a single type of primary antibody can bind many types of primary antibodies as long as the host species is the same.

•

Peptide

 - Peptides consist of short chains of amino acids that are linked together by amine bonds.
>>>
They are distinguished from proteins based on size, and a chain of 50 or fewer amino acids is generally considered to be a peptide. Peptides are commonly used in molecular biology for various applications. They can be used as immunogens to produce antibodies against specific regions of proteins, and this eliminates the need to purify native proteins. MyBioSource offers a wide variety highly purified peptides, including many that are biologically active.

•

Ligand binding Assays

 - When running ligand binding assays, it is important to use highly sensitive and specific kits to generate accurate results.
>>>
To extend the shelf life, our ELISA kits are only assembled after an order is placed, so the kit you receive will not be from an inventory that has been stored for months. We have hundreds of thousands of ELISA kits in our catalog that we are ready to assemble after receiving your order.
