The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS280753 kit is based on 8-epi-PGF2a antibody-8-epi-PGF2a antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect 8-epi-PGF2a antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, 8-epi-PGF2a. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate FBN1 in samples. An antibody specific for FBN1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyFBN1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for FBN1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of FBN1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

This gene encodes a member of the fibrillin family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate two proteins including the extracellular matrix component fibrillin-1 and the protein hormone asprosin. Fibrillin-1 is an extracellular matrix glycoprotein that serves as a structural component of calcium-binding microfibrils. These microfibrils provide force-bearing structural support in elastic and nonelastic connective tissue throughout the body. Asprosin, secreted by white adipose tissue, has been shown to regulate glucose homeostasis. Mutations in this gene are associated with Marfan syndrome and the related MASS phenotype, as well as ectopia lentis syndrome, Weill-Marchesani syndrome, Shprintzen-Goldberg syndrome and neonatal progeroid syndrome.
