Small volumes of AHSP recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Related Product Information for
AHSP recombinant protein
AHSP (Alpha-hemoglobin stabilizing protein), also known as ERAF (Erythroid associated factor), is an erythroid-specific protein that acts as a chaperone to prevent the aggregation of alpha-hemoglobin during normal erythroid cell development. It specifically protects free alpha-hemoglobin from precipitation in live cells and in solution. This protein is downregulated in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs). It is predicted to modulate pathological states of alpha-hemoglobin excess such as beta-thalassemia. Recombinant AHSP protein was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Summary for AHSP
This gene encodes a molecular chaperone which binds specifically to free alpha-globin and is involved in hemoglobin assembly. The encoded protein binds to monomeric alpha-globin until it has been transferred to beta-globin to form a heterodimer, which in turn binds to another heterodimer to form the stable tetrameric hemoglobin. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]
UniProt Comments for AHSP
Acts as a chaperone to prevent the harmful aggregation of alpha-hemoglobin during normal erythroid cell development. Specifically protects free alpha-hemoglobin from precipitation. It is predicted to modulate pathological states of alpha-hemoglobin excess such as beta-thalassemia.
