MBS704270 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the apolipoprotein A-II (APOA2) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing APOA2. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS704270 kit is based on APOA2 antibody-APOA2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect APOA2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, APOA2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Introduction: Apolipoprotein A2 is a 17.5 kDa protein with a pI of 4.9. Lipids, as such areinsoluble in plasma. They combine with apolipoproteins to form lipoproteinsand this process solubilises lipids in plasma, providing a transport systemfor lipids. Apolipoproteins also play an important role in lipoprotein receptorrecognition and regulation of certain enzymes in lipoprotein metabolism. Two main forms of high density lipoprotein exist; both contain APOA1, butone type only contains APO A2.For more information on APO A2 pleasedownload the PDF catalogue below.

Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with anantibody specific to apo-A2. Standards or samples are then added to theappropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated polyclonalantibody preparation specific for apo-A2 and Avidin conjugated toHorseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well andincubated. Then a TMB (3,3',5,5' tetramethyl-benzidine) substrate solutionis added to each well. Only those wells that contain apo-A2,biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit achange in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by theaddition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measuredspectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. Theconcentration of apo-A2 in the samples is then determined by comparingthe O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Summary for APOA2
This gene encodes apolipoprotein (apo-) A-II, which is the second most abundant protein of the high density lipoprotein particles. The protein is found in plasma as a monomer, homodimer, or heterodimer with apolipoprotein D. Defects in this gene may result in apolipoprotein A-II deficiency or hypercholesterolemia. UniProt Comments for APOA2
Function: May stabilize HDL (high density lipoprotein) structure by its association with lipids, and affect the HDL metabolism.
