The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing APOA4. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS011716 kit is based on APOA4 antibody-APOA4 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect APOA4 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, APOA4. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Apoliprotein (apo) A-IV gene contains 3 exons separated by two introns. A sequence polymorphism has been identified in the 3'UTR of the third exon. The primary translation product is a 396-residue preprotein which after proteolytic processing is secreted its primary site of synthesis, the intestine, in association with chylomicron particles. Although its precise function is not known, apo A-IV is a potent activator of lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase in vitro. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
