The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing DGAT1. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS097952 kit is based on DGAT1 antibody-DGAT1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect DGAT1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, DGAT1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. This gene encodes one of two enzymes which catalyzes the final reaction in the synthesis of triglycerides in which diacylglycerol is covalently bound to long chain fatty acyl-CoAs. The encoded protein catalyzes this reaction at low concentrations of magnesium chloride while the other enzyme has high activity at high concentrations of magnesium chloride. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
