Composition
The enzyme is a zinc metallo-enzyme Shussler (1968) reports four isozymes. Chang and Moog (1972) found three isozymes in the enzyme from chicken duodenum (This preparation is from the whole intestine).
Acitvators
Schussler (1968) indicates actiation by Mg2+. See Sinvanaesan et al. (1991)
Inhibitors
Acidification to pH 4.5 reversibly inactivates the enzyme.

Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C. Stable for 6 months after receipt at 4°C.
Other Notes
Small volumes of Phosphatase, Alkaline, Chicken Intestine enzyme vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
