MBS2510411 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the GLP-2, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing GLP-2. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2510411 kit is based on GLP-2 antibody-GLP-2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect GLP-2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, GLP-2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%). Human GLP-2 (Glucagon Like Peptide 2) ELISA Kit

In humans glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP-2) is a 33 amino acid peptide. GLP-2 is created by specific post-translational proteolytic cleavage of glucagon in a process that also liberates the related glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
GLP-2 is produced by the intestinal endocrine L cell and by various neurons in the central nervous system. Intestinal GLP-2 is co-secreted along with GLP-1 upon nutrient ingestion. Glucagon is a peptide hormone, produced by alpha cells of the pancreas that raises the concentration of glucose in the bloodstream. Its effect is opposite that of insulin, which lowers the glucose concentration. Thus, it is part of a feedback system that keeps blood glucose levels at a stable level.
GLP-2 results in a number of biological actions in humans and rodents, these include intestinal growth, enhancement of intestinal function, reduction in bone breakdown and neuroprotection. Some research suggests that GLP-2 and related analogs may be treatments for short bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, osteoporosis and as adjuvant therapy during cancer chemotherapy.

The concentration of glucagon peptide 2 in the test sample (plasma, blood) can be derived from a standard curve. The details of assay and reagents in this ELISA kit can be found in the product datasheet. Cross species reactivity has been demonstrated to mouse, rat and human sequences.

NCBI Summary for GLP-2
This gene encodes a G protein-coupled receptor that is closely related to the glucagon receptor and binds to glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP2). Signalling through GLP2 stimulates intestinal growth and increases villus height in the small intestine, concomitant with increased crypt cell proliferation and decreased enterocyte apoptosis.
