The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS824757 kit is based on IL1B antibody-IL1B antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect IL1B antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, IL1B. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Principle of the Assay: The Cohesion Bioscience Mouse IL-1 beta ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Mouse IL-1 beta in Cell Culture Supernatants, Serum, Plasma, Tissue Homogenates. This assay employs an antibody specific for Mouse IL-1 beta coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IL-1 beta present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Mouse IL-1 beta antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-1 beta bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Background: Interleukin-1? (IL-1?) is a potent stimulator of bone resorption whose gene is mapped to 2q14, and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of high bone turnover and osteoporosis. Moreover, the association with disease may be explained by the biologic properties of IL-1?, which is an important proinflammatory cytokine and a powerful inhibitor of gastric acid secretion.
