The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing KLK8. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS027078 kit is based on KLK8 antibody-KLK8 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect KLK8 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, KLK8. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in tandem in a gene cluster on chromosome 19. The encoded protein may be involved in proteolytic cascade in the skin and may serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]
