Related Product Information for
LAG3 recombinant protein
Background: LAG3, also known as CD223 and Lymphocyte activation gene 3, belongs to immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. LAG3 contains 4 extracellular Ig-like domains. The LAG3 gene contains 8 exons. It is selectively expressed in activated T and NK cells. LAG3 has a negative regulatory function in T cells. It also acts as as a new marker of T cell induced B cell activation. As a soluble molecule, LAG3 activates antigen-presenting cells through MHC class II signalling, leading to increased antigen-specific T-cell responses in vivo.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human LAG3 (NP_002277.4) (Met1-Leu450) was expressed with the Fc region of human IgG1 at the C-terminus.
Application Notes for LAG3 recombinant protein
The recombinant human LAG3 consists 660 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 72.3 kDa.

NCBI Summary for LAG3
Lymphocyte-activation protein 3 belongs to Ig superfamily and contains 4 extracellular Ig-like domains. The LAG3 gene contains 8 exons. The sequence data, exon/intron organization, and chromosomal localization all indicate a close relationship of LAG3 to CD4. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
UniProt Comments for LAG3
LAG3: a cell surface receptor involved in lymphocyte activation and neural function. LAG3 expressed on neurons is a receptor that binds extracellular Alpha-synuclein fibrils (PFF) with high affinity, leading to its endocytosis. LAG3 facilitates the neuron-to-neuron spread of PFF and its associated neural toxicity. Binds to HLA class-II antigens. Two isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13.31

Molecular Function: antigen binding; MHC class II protein binding
