This shortage of healthy red blood cells can affect several parts of the body when oxygen supply is disturbed. The symptoms associated with <span id=\"urn:enhancement-983c683f-6f28-4afe-b748-d3f4f245c649\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-adc975e0-c674-4070-8ce0-050d2302d4ca\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> include fatigue, pale skin and other associated complications. <span id=\"urn:enhancement-a58867eb-540f-4732-9321-aba040816bf0\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">Congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-9d5e8279-07bb-4fb2-b070-f8ed2611ebc6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> is divided into three types differentiated by the genetic cause and symptoms presented. This consists of type 1, type 2 and type 3.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Type 1<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This type of <span id=\"urn:enhancement-796563bb-a0da-4665-a0e9-b12ec7dd9a25\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-65f0e8a4-11a8-42e0-9c48-d1fc9fec4942\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> usually affects the children and adolescence, although it can be detected before the birth. This severe type can cause symptoms such as <span id=\"urn:enhancement-4770ce22-b6f1-4298-b8af-95bf7d6efe40\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/jaundice\">jaundice<\/span>, enlarged spleen and liver. The type 1 develops when the body absorbs an excess amount of iron that can affect several organs in the body and can be the cause of <span id=\"urn:enhancement-4707a3d3-6e11-473b-950c-a151f00911f5\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/cirrhosis\">cirrhosis<\/span>, congestive heart condition and diabetes. This is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern where both the copies of the gene in each cell have a mutation. The genetic mutation in the CDAN1 is responsible for the cause of type 1 <span id=\"urn:enhancement-67340441-f125-42a8-8188-1b84c247f16f\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-e6295845-9bc8-4cb9-b430-3ce6946e08a2\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span>. However, cases have been presented when this gene is not identified to be the cause and can be the result of a mutation in one other gene.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Type 2<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"urn:enhancement-820f6ceb-aa55-41bd-9587-59f9b5c21800\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">Congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-6eeb3880-0db4-4def-a203-d1cd15bb1fcf\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> type 2 can range from a mild to a severe condition that causes <span id=\"urn:enhancement-a766e5a3-c7ff-4193-989b-2de49e28296e\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/jaundice\">jaundice<\/span> and gallstones. Type 2 usually occurs in adolescent and adults. The excess accumulation of iron in the body can affect various organs of the body and may include heart conditions, diabetes and chronic liver problems. This is also inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern meaning both the copies of the gene in the cell, one from each parent, is defective. The type 2 is caused by the mutation in the gene SEC23B which affects the transportation of certain <span id=\"urn:enhancement-8fa0c8a6-0d6f-4361-ba08-2d38bf84b635\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-creative-work\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/proteins\">proteins<\/span> within the cells.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Type 3<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"urn:enhancement-66d31e51-7b57-4aef-b72f-72e7978c9df7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">Congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-47f5f7ea-47e0-4822-ba84-647f093309c4\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> type 3 is usually a milder condition and the iron content does not accumulate in the organs characteristic of the other types. The individuals affected with this condition exhibit vision impairment and blood disorder known as <span id=\"urn:enhancement-68bf4ea6-a6cd-43ef-8204-3c458ae2eda6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/monoclonal-gammopathy\">monoclonal gammopathy<\/span>. The type 3 is inherited in an <span id=\"urn:enhancement-1246287a-95c7-4d38-84a8-9aff430f2c5d\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/autosomal-dominant\">autosomal dominant<\/span> pattern where one copy of the defective gene can develop this disorder. The genetic mutation of type 3 <span id=\"urn:enhancement-884480a8-63f9-440a-bbcd-3d23e4290c2c\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-a07fffee-0d5f-422b-ade1-f440e185b050\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> has not been identified.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Diagnosis<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The diagnosis of <span id=\"urn:enhancement-57af0917-74df-4d2d-a5e4-44b27d7a8c50\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-979a6f11-e200-493d-a1bc-bca75e158301\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> can be detected in the blood tests, <span id=\"urn:enhancement-c6a9ce65-c289-4dd7-a23b-22000e72120b\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/bone-marrow\">bone marrow<\/span> examination, measuring the iron content and <span id=\"urn:enhancement-de78f4ca-f72e-4a56-9619-af5bcbe3d71f\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/serum\">serum<\/span> bilirubin test which identifies the cause of <span id=\"urn:enhancement-9ed12562-8824-4e3c-9784-f0be9320a242\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/jaundice\">jaundice<\/span>. The genetic testing can confirm the diagnosis with the identification of genetic mutation responsible for each type of <span id=\"urn:enhancement-2874b391-2973-425b-ad10-561a05111843\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-a3a6fdd3-03be-4d8c-8384-209cfcb77a2b\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Treatment<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The only form of treatment for <span id=\"urn:enhancement-486bdfad-93a8-468b-9110-0223d4e4d04f\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/congenital\">congenital<\/span> dyserythropoietic <span id=\"urn:enhancement-424f5b0d-1c86-4729-b808-64b69c8ab024\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/anemia\">anemia<\/span> includes the <span id=\"urn:enhancement-9e0a9b23-4366-4be3-98cc-d7576188d41c\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/stem-cell\">stem cell<\/span> transplant depending on the severity of the condition.
