The candidate vaccine is created using the <span id=\"urn:enhancement-584a7fc8-7489-4145-ba3a-4a953eed32f4\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/protein-sciences\">Protein Sciences<\/span>\u2019 proprietary BEVS technology.<\/p>\n<p>People in the know within the company noted that the protein vaccine induced strong levels of <span id=\"urn:enhancement-db984682-0e48-492b-b045-d0a5d93d7fe1\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/neutralizing-antibodies\">neutralizing antibodies<\/span> in outbred mice, which is a positive indicator for moving the candidate to further testing. Also, the toxicology studies sponsored by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (support program) indicates that the vaccine is safe. The vaccine development program is funded by multinational consortium led by <span id=\"urn:enhancement-2a12873f-874c-46ad-a4db-f4e9f9858383\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/protein-sciences\">Protein Sciences<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The consortium is made of five international partners: Mundo Sano and Sinergium Biotech in Argentina, Liomont in Mexico, UMN Pharma in Japan and Fiocruz in Brazil. Currently, <span id=\"urn:enhancement-3ceafbad-a890-4a63-84cf-042a8dc618dc\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/protein-sciences\">Protein Sciences<\/span> manufactures the protein-based <span id=\"urn:enhancement-3feb3a0f-c0da-40f3-8c31-e1dd07482c9a\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/influenza\">influenza<\/span> vaccine, FlukBlok.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, In August 2016, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nih.gov\/news-events\/news-releases\/nih-begins-testing-investigational-zika-vaccine-humans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases <\/a>launched <span id=\"urn:enhancement-8ab22af2-f1b6-4121-bb96-2e01672dcd27\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl1503301\/entity\/clinical-trial\">clinical trial<\/span> of a vaccine candidate intended to prevent Zika virus infection. The study is expected to evaluate safety and ability to generate an immune system response in study participants enrolled in the program. 80 volunteers of age between 18 \u2013 35 participate in the program. In this study, the volunteers are split into four groups each comprising of 20 participants. Participants are expected to receive vaccination at different timings but of same dosages to study the immune response to Zika virus. The study is expected to happen for 44 weeks in total under which all participants are expected to be under the monitoring of physicians.
