Intended Uses: This CLIA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of LTA4H concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This kit uses Sandwich-CLIA as the method. The micro CLIA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to LTA4H. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro CLIA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for LTA4H and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain LTA4H, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear fluorescence. The Relative light unit (RLU) value is measured spectrophotometrically by the Chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer. The RLU value is positively associated with the concentration of LTA4H. You can calculate the concentration of LTA4H in the samples by comparing the RLU value of the samples to the standard curve.

The protein encoded by this gene is an enzyme that contains both hydrolase and aminopeptidase activities. The hydrolase activity is used in the final step of the biosynthesis of leukotriene B4, a proinflammatory mediator. The aminopeptidase activity has been shown to degrade proline-glycine-proline (PGP), a neutrophil chemoattractant and biomarker for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
