Escherichia coli
Monoclonal antibosy to E. coli.

E Coli (Escherichia coli) is a Gram-negative, anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium commonly found in the lower intestine of mammals. The vast majority of E. coli strains are harmless, however, some can cause serious human food poisoning have been responsible for product recalls due to food contamination. The harmless strains of E. coli are part of the normal flora of the gut, and benefit their hosts by producing vitamin K2, and preventing colonization of the intestine with pathogenic bacteria. Fecal┬ľoral transmission is the major route in which people contract the harmful pathogenic strains resulting in food poisoning.

This bacterium can be grown in culture easily in a laboratory setting (under favorable conditions, it takes only 20 minutes to reproduce), and has been intensively researched for many years. Indeed E. coli is the most widely studied prokaryotic model organisms, and an important species in the fields of biotechnology and microbiology (according to Pubmed).

This high quality monoclonal antibody can be used for E. coli detection and was synthesized via custom antibody production. Applications include both western blotting, antibody array kits and ELISA development as well as a multitude of non clinical or clinical experimental immunology research purposes.
Application Notes for anti-E. coli antibody
May be used in immunoassays to identify E. coli cells. Each laboratory should determine an optimum working titer for use in its particular application. Other applications have not been tested but use in such assays should not necessarily be excluded.
