Biological Significance
Calpastatin, a specific endogenous inhibitor of calpain, has a predicted molecular weight of ~77 kDa and an internal repeat of four homologous domains which allow it to inhibit multiple calpain molecules simultaneously. It functions by binding to calpain when calpain binds calcium.
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Calpastatin antibody was raised in mouse using bovine skeletal muscle calpastatin as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Other Notes
Small volumes of anti-CAST antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
