Biological Significance
Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta is a serine/threonine kinase involved in insulin, growth factor and Wnt signaling. Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSk3beta) is a molecular regulator of cell fate in the central nervous system and a target of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3k) pathway. It is an enzyme with a diverse number of actions in intracellular signaling systems, regulating neuronal plasticity, gene expression and cell survival.
Immunogen
GSK3B antibody was raised in Mouse using a purified recombinant fragment of human GSK3B expressed in E Coli as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Other Notes
Small volumes of anti-GSK3B antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for GSK3B
The protein encoded by this gene is a serine-threonine kinase, belonging to the glycogen synthase kinase subfamily. It is involved in energy metabolism, neuronal cell development, and body pattern formation. Polymorphisms in this gene have been implicated in modifying risk of Parkinson disease, and studies in mice show that overexpression of this gene may be relevant to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
