Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. Reconstitute to nominal volume (see reconstitution instructions for peptides) and store at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Other Notes
Small volumes of NPY peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for NPY
This gene encodes a neuropeptide that is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes, including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. The neuropeptide functions through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), regulate intracellular calcium levels, and activate potassium channels. A polymorphism in this gene resulting in a change of leucine 7 to proline in the signal peptide is associated with elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may be a risk factor for various metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. UniProt Comments for NPY
Function: NPY is implicated in the control of feeding and in secretion of gonadotrophin-release hormone.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: One of the most abundant peptides in the nervous system. Also found in some chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the NPY family.
