ModBase 3D Structure for Q8IYS5
Species Reactivity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human OSCAR. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human OSCAR and analogues was observed.
Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates
Assay Type
Detection Range
6.25 ng/ml - 400 ng/ml.
The minimum detectable dose of human OSCAR is typically less than 1.56 ng/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.
Intra-assay Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
Preparation and Storage
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.
ISO Certification
Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Laboratory.
Product Note
Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current manual.
Other Notes
Small volumes of OSCAR elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS946901 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the osteoclast associated, immunoglobulin-like receptor (OSCAR) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing OSCAR. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS946901 kit is based on OSCAR antibody-OSCAR antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect OSCAR antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, OSCAR. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for OSCAR has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any OSCAR present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for OSCAR is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of OSCAR bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Summary for OSCAR
Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells that resorb bone and are essential for bone homeostasis. This gene encodes an osteoclast-associated receptor (OSCAR), which is a member of the leukocyte receptor complex protein family that plays critical roles in the regulation of both innate and adaptive immune responses. The encoded protein may play a role in oxidative stress-mediated atherogenesis as well as monocyte adhesion. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]
UniProt Comments for OSCAR
OSCAR: Regulator of osteoclastogenesis which plays an important bone-specific function in osteoclast differentiation. Belongs to the leukocyte receptor complex/polymeric immunogobulin receptor (PIR/LRC) family. 7 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.42

Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane
