Product Note
Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current manual.
Other Notes
Small volumes of PAPP-A elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS041371 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Pregnancy Associated Plasma Protein A (PAPP-A) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PAPP-A. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS041371 kit is based on PAPP-A antibody-PAPP-A antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PAPP-A antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PAPP-A. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PAPP-A
This gene encodes a secreted metalloproteinase which cleaves insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs). It is thought to be involved in local proliferative processes such as wound healing and bone remodeling. Low plasma level of this protein has been suggested as a biochemical marker for pregnancies with aneuploid fetuses. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
UniProt Comments for PAPP-A
PAPPA: Metalloproteinase which specifically cleaves IGFBP-4 and IGFBP-5, resulting in release of bound IGF. Cleavage of IGFBP-4 is dramatically enhanced by the presence of IGF, whereas cleavage of IGFBP-5 is slightly inhibited by the presence of IGF. Belongs to the peptidase M43B family.

Protein type: Secreted; EC; Protease; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q33.2

Cellular Component: membrane; extracellular region

Molecular Function: metallopeptidase activity; zinc ion binding; metalloendopeptidase activity

Biological Process: cellular protein metabolic process; female pregnancy; proteolysis; cell differentiation
