For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Sequence Length
270
Sequence
The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Ser-Ala-Th r-Tyr-Ser
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P18430
Host
E Coli
Purity/Purification
Greater than 95.0% as determined by: (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
Form/Format
The protein was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) sterile solution containing no additives.
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Interleukin-1 alpha in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Protein Content
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods:1. UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 0.669 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics). 2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a standard solution of IL-1 as a Reference Standard.
Biological Activity
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of D10S cells is < 0.03 ng/ml.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized Interleukin-1 alpha although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution IL1A should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Other Notes
Small volumes of pIL 1 alpha recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

pIL 1 alpha recombinant protein
Description: Interleukin-1A Porice Recombinant produced in E Coli is single, a non-glycosylated, Polypeptide chain containing 158 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 18076 Dalton. The IL-1A is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: Interleukin-1 alpha is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by a wide variety of cell types, including macrophages, osteoblasts, monocytes and hepatocytes. Circulating levels of are normally low and only rise after stimulation by agents such as those produced byinflammation, infection or microbial endotoxins. IL-1 alpha possesses a wide variety of biological activities and exerts its effects by binding to specific cell surface receptors.

UniProt Comments for pIL 1 alpha
Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.
