The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PLG. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS564083 kit is based on PLG antibody-PLG antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PLG antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PLG. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Principle of the Assay: The principle of the double antibody sandwich ELISA is represented in Figure 1. In this assay the Plasminogen present in samples reacts with the anti-Plasminogen antibodies which have been adsorbed to the surface of polystyrene microtitre wells. After the removal of unbound proteins by washing, anti-PMG antibodies conjugated with horseradish peroxidase (HRP), are added. These enzyme-labeled antibodies form complexes with the previously bound PMG. Following another washing step, the enzyme bound to the immunosorbent is assayed by the addition of a chromogenic substrate, 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). The quantity of bound enzyme varies directly with the concentration of PMG in the sample tested; thus, the absorbance, at 450 nm, is a measure of the concentration of PMG in the test sample. The quantity of PMG in the test sample can be interpolated from the standard curve constructed from the standards, and corrected for sample dilution.

Plasminogen is present in plasma and most extravascular fluids. The important role of plasminogen in fibrinolytic system makes it an interesting marker for various diseases.

The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted blood zymogen that is activated by proteolysis and converted to plasmin and angiostatin. Plasmin dissolves fibrin in blood clots and is an important protease in many other cellular processes while angiostatin inhibits angiogenesis. Defects in this gene are likely a cause of thrombophilia and ligneous conjunctivitis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

In ovulation, weakens the walls of the Graafian follicle. It activates the urokinase-type plasminogen activator, collagenases and several complement zymogens, such as C1 and C5.
