The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PLGA. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS025303 kit is based on PLGA antibody-PLGA antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PLGA antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PLGA. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. This gene encodes tissue-type plasminogen activator, a secreted serine protease which converts the proenzyme plasminogen to plasmin, a fibrinolytic enzyme. Tissue-type plasminogen activator is synthesized as a single chain which is cleaved by plasmin to a two chain disulfide linked protein. This enzyme plays a role in cell migration and tissue remodeling. Increased enzymatic activity causes hyperfibrinolysis, which manifests as excessive bleeding; decreased activity leads to hypofibrinolysis which can result in thrombosis or embolism. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
