Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

Small volumes of anti-PYGB antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Rabbit anti Human glycogen phosphorylase BB antibody detects brain glycogen phosphorylase, a regulatory enzyme which catalyses the rate-determining step in glycogen degradation. Mammalian glycogen phosphorylase is found as three major isozymes including muscle (GPMM), liver (GPLL), and brain (GPBB), which can be distinguished by their structural and functional properties as well as by the tissues in which they are expressed. GPBB is thought to function in the release of emergency glucose during stress, and in embryogenesis where it is the predominant isozyme. GPBB is also expressed in the early stages of gastric and colorectal cancers.

The protein encoded by this gene is a glycogen phosphorylase found predominantly in the brain. The encoded protein forms homodimers which can associate into homotetramers, the enzymatically active form of glycogen phosphorylase. The activity of this enzyme is positively regulated by AMP and negatively regulated by ATP, ADP, and glucose-6-phosphate. This enzyme catalyzes the rate-determining step in glycogen degradation.
