Product Gene Name
Research Use Only
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: 3; NC_000003.11 (46477496..46506395, complement). Location: 3p21.31
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P02788
Based on immunoelectrophoresis, the antibody reacts with the human lactoferrin found in human milk. No antibody was detected against other milk or serum proteins, but antibodies may cross-react with lactoferrin from other species.
Isolated from antisera by immunoaffinity chromatography using antigens coupled to agarose beads
Biotin, Lyophilized
Reconstitute to 1.5ml with distilled water. Centrifuge product if it is not completely clear after standing for 1-2 hours at room temp. To judge clarity by drawing product into a Pasteur pipette.
1mg/ml (prior to lyophilization) (lot specific)
Lactoferrin purified from human colostrum
Lyophilized from 0.01M Sodium phosphate, 0.25M Sodium chloride, pH 7.6 containing 15mg/ml BSA
0.05% Sodium azide
Important Note
Centrifuge before opening to ensure complete recovery of vial contents.
This product contains sodium azide, which has been classified as Xn (Harmful), in European Directive 67/548/EEC in the concentration range of 0.1 - 1.0 %. When disposing of this reagent through lead or copper plumbing, flush with copious volumes of water to prevent azide build-up in drains.
Preparation and Storage
Store lyophilized product at 2 to 8 degree C. After reconstitution, product is stable for several weeks at 2 to 8 degree C as an undiluted liquid. Prepare working dilution only prior to immediate use. For extended storage after reconstitution, add an equa
ISO Certification
Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Laboratory.
Other Notes
Small volumes of anti-LTF antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Application Notes for anti-LTF antibody
A dilution range of 1:20,000 - 1:400,000 is suggested for ELISA and Western blotting using enzyme-conjugated streptavidin, 1:500 - 1:5,000 for enzyme immunohistochemistry on tissue sections and 1:200 - 1:1,000 for flow cytometry and fluorescence immunohis

NCBI Summary for LTF
This gene is a member of the transferrin family of genes and its protein product is found in the secondary granules of neutrophils. The protein is a major iron-binding protein in milk and body secretions with an antimicrobial activity, making it an important component of the non-specific immune system. The protein demonstrates a broad spectrum of properties, including regulation of iron homeostasis, host defense against a broad range of microbial infections, anti-inflammatory activity, regulation of cellular growth and differentiation and protection against cancer development and metastasis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]
UniProt Comments for LTF
Function: Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe3+ ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. Ref.21Lactotransferrin has antimicrobial activity which depends on the extracellular cation concentration. Ref.21Lactoferroxins A, B and C have opioid antagonist activity. Lactoferroxin A shows preference for mu-receptors, while lactoferroxin B and C have somewhat higher degrees of preference for kappa-receptors than for mu-receptors. Ref.21The lactotransferrin transferrin-like domain 1 functions as a serine protease of the peptidase S60 family that cuts arginine rich regions. This function contributes to the antimicrobial activity. Ref.21

Catalytic activity: Preferential at -Arg-Ser-Arg-Arg-|- and -Arg-Arg-Ser-Arg-|-, and of Z-Phe-Arg-|-aminomethylcoumarin.

Subunit structure: Monomer.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the transferrin family.Contains 2 transferrin-like domains.
