Biological Significance
Histidine decarboxylase (HDC) is the enzyme catalyzing the conversion of histidine into histamine. HDC can be found in the histamine secreting ECL cells of some species as well as in the mast cells.
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Immunogen
Histidine decarboxylase antibody was raised in rabbit using recombinant histidine decarboxylase produced in E Coli as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Other Notes
Small volumes of anti-HDC antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for HDC
This gene encodes a member of the group II decarboxylase family and forms a homodimer that converts L-histidine to histamine in a pyridoxal phosphate dependent manner. Histamine regulates several physiologic processes, including neurotransmission, gastric acid secretion, inflamation, and smooth muscle tone.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]
