NCBI Summary for Calcr
receptor for calcitonin; acts via adenylate cyclase signaling [RGD, Feb 2006]
UniProt Comments for Calcr
CALCR: This is a receptor for calcitonin. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. The calcitonin receptor is thought to couple to the heterotrimeric guanosine triphosphate-binding protein that is sensitive to cholera toxin. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral; GPCR, family 2; Receptor, GPCR
Cellular Component: neuron projection; cell soma; axon; integral to membrane; plasma membrane; acrosome; cytosol; cilium
Molecular Function: calcitonin binding; receptor activity; protein transporter activity; calcitonin receptor activity
