Species Reactivity
PBS, pH 7.4, with 0.05% NaN3.
Biological Significance
The Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein (THP) also known as uromodulin is a glycoprotein that in humans is encoded by the UMOD gene. Uromodulin is the most abundant protein in normal urine. Uromodulin may act as a constitutive inhibitor of calcium crystallization in renal fluids. Excretion of uromodulin in urine may provide defense against urinary tract infections caused by uropathogenic bacteria.
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein antibody was raised in sheep using human Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein (Uromucoid) purified from urine as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C.
