UniProt Comments for TRIP / LRRFIP1
LRRFIP1: Transcriptional repressor which preferentially binds to the GC-rich consensus sequence (5'-AGCCCCCGGCG-3') and may regulate expression of TNF, EGFR and PDGFA. May control smooth muscle cells proliferation following artery injury through PDGFA repression. May also bind double-stranded RNA. Positively regulates Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling in response to agonist probably by competing with the negative FLII regulator for MYD88-binding. Belongs to the LRRFIP family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; RNA-binding
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q37.3
Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytoskeleton; cytosol; nucleus; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: DNA binding; double-stranded RNA binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity
Biological Process: innate immune response; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; positive regulation of interferon type I production; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription, DNA-dependent
