NCBI Summary for IGSF11
IGSF11 is an immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily member that is preferentially expressed in brain and testis. It shares significant homology with coxsackievirus and adenovirus receptor (CXADR; MIM 602621) and endothelial cell-selective adhesion molecule (ESAM).[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2005]
UniProt Comments for IGSF11
IGSF11: a single-pass type I membrane protein an immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily member that is preferentially expressed in brain and testis. A member of the Cancer-Testis Antigen (CTA) superfamily. CTAs may play roles in embryonal development and tumor transformation or aspects of tumor progression. CTAs were once thought to be silenced in most normal adult tissues, with limited expression in fetal, placental, testis, and ovarian cells. These proteins are now known to be aberrantly expressed in various cancers and many are capable of eliciting humoral and cellular immune responses. Shares significant homology with coxsackievirus and adenovirus receptor and endothelial cell-selective adhesion molecule (ESAM). Functions as a cell adhesion molecule through homophilic interaction. Stimulates cell growth. Abundantly expressed in testis and ovary and to a lower extent in brain, kidney and skeletal muscle. Expressed in myeloma cells at the mRNA level. Three isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Note: This description may include information from RefSeq and UniProtKB
