PDGF Receptor alpha antibody was purified by affinity chromatography.
Immunoaffinity purified rabbit IgG supplied in in 70% storage buffer(0.2 M Tris-glycine, pH 7.4, 0.15M NaCl, 0.05% Sodium Azide) and 30% glycerol.
Biological Significance
Platelet derived growth factor receptor (PDGF Receptor) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of 170-185 kDa which undergoes homo or heterodimerization into complexes of alpha and beta subunits upon ligand binding, depending on the isoform of PDGF (PDGF AA, BB or AB) that binds. The phosphorylation of tyrosine residues in the now activated receptor can control multiple signaling events such as actin reorganization, transcription, cell growth, migration and differentiation.

This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling.
PDGF receptor alpha antibody was raised in rabbit using peptide corresponding to amino acids 1035-1053 (C-GKRNRHSSQTSEESAIETG) of human PDGF Receptor slpha as the immunogen.

Aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated Freeze/Thaw cycles

This gene encodes a cell surface tyrosine kinase receptor for members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors are mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the functional receptor is a homodimer or a heterodimer, composed of both platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha and beta polypeptides. Studies suggest that this gene plays a role in organ development, wound healing, and tumor progression. Mutations in this gene have been associated with idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome, somatic and familial gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and a variety of other cancers.
