Searchable Terms for CX43 purchase    Connexin 43 is listed in NCBI and UniProt data bases as gap junction alpha-1 protein, gap junction 43 kDa heart protein, Cx43, GJA1 and GJAL.

Connexin 43 is one of major integral membrane proteins that form gap junction channels to provide inter-cellular communication such as exchange of small molecules and ions between adjacent cells. Itís expressed in variable cell types and plays important role in development, differentiation, and metabolic homeostasis.

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies against connexin 43 were raised using synthetic polypeptide immunogen.

Product contains immunoglobulin G (IgG) fraction of rabbit antiserum purified by affinity chromatography; antibodies are supplied in phosphate buffer with 150mM NaCl, 0.02% NaN3 and 50% glycerol, at pH 7.4.

Intended use of these antibodies include following applications: Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF) and ELISA (EIA).

Rabbit polyclonal anti-connexin 43 antibodies recognize human, mouse and rat forms of connexin 43.

Antibodies must be stored frozen at -20įC and are stable for 1 year from itsí date of manufacturing.

NCBI Summary for CX43    This gene is a member of the connexin gene family. The encoded protein is a component of gap junctions, which are composed of arrays of intercellular channels that provide a route for the diffusion of low molecular weight materials from cell to cell. The encoded protein is the major protein of gap junctions in the heart that are thought to have a crucial role in the synchronized contraction of the heart and in embryonic development. A related intronless pseudogene has been mapped to chromosome 5. Mutations in this gene have been associated with oculodentodigital dysplasia, autosomal recessive craniometaphyseal dysplasia and heart malformations. [provided by RefSeq, May 2014]

UniProt Comments for CX43    Gap junction protein that acts as a regulator of bladder capacity. A gap junction consists of a cluster of closely packed pairs of transmembrane channels, the connexons, through which materials of low MW diffuse from one cell to a neighboring cell. May play a critical role in the physiology of hearing by participating in the recycling of potassium to the cochlear endolymph. Negative regulator of bladder functional capacity: acts by enhancing intercellular electrical and chemical transmission, thus sensitizing bladder muscles to cholinergic neural stimuli and causing them to contract (). May play a role in cell growth inhibition through the regulation of NOV expression and localization. Plays an essential role in gap junction communication in the ventricles ().
