Related Product Information for anti-APOA1 antibody

Apolipoprotein A1 (APOA1) is the main protein component of high density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. This protein promotes cholesterol efflux from tissues to the liver for excretion, and it is a cofactor for lecithin cholesterolacyltransferase (LCAT) which is responsible for the formation of most plasma cholesteryl esters. Defects in APOA1 are associated with HDL deficiencies, including Tangier disease, and with systemic non-neuropathic amyloidosis. High level of APOA1 is regarded as protective against atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.
Product Categories/Family for anti-APOA1 antibody    Cancer
 Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-APOA1 antibody

ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS)

Application Notes for anti-APOA1 antibody    WB: 1:500~1:5000.
Recommended staring dilution is 1:1000

Western Blot (WB) of anti-APOA1 antibody    The extracts of HepG2 (40ug) were resolved by SDS-PAGE, transferred to PVDF membrane and probed with anti-human APOA1 (1:500 ~ 1:5000). Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-mouse secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and an ECL detection system.

NCBI Summary for APOA1    This gene encodes apolipoprotein A-I, which is the major protein component of high density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein, which promotes cholesterol efflux from tissues to the liver for excretion, and is a cofactor for lecithin cholesterolacyltransferase (LCAT), an enzyme responsible for the formation of most plasma cholesteryl esters. This gene is closely linked with two other apolipoprotein genes on chromosome 11. Defects in this gene are associated with HDL deficiencies, including Tangier disease, and with systemic non-neuropathic amyloidosis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for APOA1    Participates in the reverse transport of cholesterol from tissues to the liver for excretion by promoting cholesterol efflux from tissues and by acting as a cofactor for the lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT). As part of the SPAP complex, activates spermatozoa motility.
