Related Product Information for anti-DDC antibody

DDC (EC 1.1.128) belongs to the family group II Decarboxylase (DDC, GAD, HDC and TYRD). DDC catalyzes the formation of tryptamine from L-tyrosine. It also acts on 5-hydroxy-LO-tryptophan and dihydroxy-L-Phenylalanine (DOPA). Human DDC (480 aa, chromosome 7p11) is a homodimer in the native state. It requires pyridoxal phosphate as a cofactor.
Product Categories/Family for anti-DDC antibody    Antibodies; Abs to Enzymes, Decarboxylase

NCBI Summary for DDC    The encoded protein catalyzes the decarboxylation of L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) to dopamine, L-5-hydroxytryptophan to serotonin and L-tryptophan to tryptamine. Defects in this gene are the cause of aromatic L-amino-acid decarboxylase deficiency (AADCD). AADCD deficiency is an inborn error in neurotransmitter metabolism that leads to combined serotonin and catecholamine deficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]
