Related Product Information for anti-CD59 antibody

Mouse anti Rat CD59 antibody, clone 1B4 recognizes the rat CD59 cell surface antigen, a 21kDa glycoprotein expressed by erythrocytes. CD59 acts to inhibit the membrane attack complex of complement. Mouse anti Rat CD59 antibody, clone 1B4 recognizes the same, or a closely related epitope to antibody clone 6D1.
 Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-CD59 antibody

Flow cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB)

Application Notes for anti-CD59 antibody    Flow Cytometry: Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells in 100ul.
Flow Cytometry: Maximum Dilution: 10ug/ml
Western Blotting: Maximum Dilution: Non-reducing conditions

NCBI Summary for CD59    may play a role in regulation of complement; may bind complement proteins C8 and C9 [RGD, Feb 2006]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for CD59    CD59: Potent inhibitor of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC) action. Acts by binding to the C8 and/or C9 complements of the assembling MAC, thereby preventing incorporation of the multiple copies of C9 required for complete formation of the osmolytic pore. This inhibitor appears to be species-specific. Involved in signal transduction for T-cell activation complexed to a protein tyrosine kinase. Defects in CD59 are the cause of CD59 deficiency (CD59D).

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor

Cellular Component: anchored to external side of plasma membrane; extracellular space; compact myelin; cell surface; focal adhesion; plasma membrane; sarcolemma; vesicle

Molecular Function: complement binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of cytolysis; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; negative regulation of complement activation; regulation of complement activation; negative regulation of activation of membrane attack complex; positive regulation of T cell proliferation; negative regulation of apoptosis
