Specificity    Anti-Estrogen Receptor Alpha [Murine MAb to fusion protein corresponding to aa 1-190 of human estrogen receptor-alpha, a member of the steroid family of nuclear receptors.]
This antibody recognizes human ER- alpha , a 65 kD protein and a member of the steroid family of nuclear receptors. ER- alpha is a ligand-activated transcription factor that, when bound to estrogen, induces a conformational change that allows dimerization and binding to estrogen response element sequences. When bound to DNA, ER- alpha can positively or negatively regulate gene transcription.
Form/Format    100 ug Protein G-purified antibody in PBS, pH 7.4

Antigen    6-His fusion proteincontaining the region encoding aa 1-190of human estrogen receptor- alpha (ER- alpha ) expressed in E. coli.
 Stabilizer    None
 Preservatives    None. Available on request.
Dilutions Instructions    Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.

NCBI Summary for ESR1    This gene encodes an estrogen receptor, a ligand-activated transcription factor composed of several domains important for hormone binding, DNA binding, and activation of transcription. The protein localizes to the nucleus where it may form a homodimer or a heterodimer with estrogen receptor 2. Estrogen and its receptors are essential for sexual development and reproductive function, but also play a role in other tissues such as bone. Estrogen receptors are also involved in pathological processes including breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and osteoporosis. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants, which differ in their 5' UTRs and use different promoters. [provided by RefSeq]

Research Articles on ESR1    1. these observations show that hypoxia-stabilized HIF-1a induces the repression of the ESR1 gene, which may facilitate hormone insensitivity in the tumor microenvironment.
