Preparation and Storage    May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Other Notes    Small volumes of anti-FABP1 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for FABP1    This gene encodes the fatty acid binding protein found in liver. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. This protein and FABP6 (the ileal fatty acid binding protein) are also able to bind bile acids. It is thought that FABPs roles include fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. [provided by RefSeq]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for FABP1    FABP1: Binds free fatty acids and their coenzyme A derivatives, bilirubin, and some other small molecules in the cytoplasm. May be involved in intracellular lipid transport. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family.

Protein type: Lipid-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p11

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; peroxisomal matrix; apical cortex; cytosol

Molecular Function: antioxidant activity; bile acid binding; phospholipid binding; long-chain fatty acid transporter activity; drug binding; chromatin binding; fatty acid binding

Biological Process: long-chain fatty acid transport; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of hydrolase activity; negative regulation of caspase activity; cellular lipid metabolic process; intestinal absorption; negative regulation of apoptosis; positive regulation of fatty acid beta-oxidation
