It does not react with mouse or rat mitochondria. Biological Significance Mitochondria are most commonly known as the power plants of the cell as they produce ATP, but they are also involved in many other important cellular processes such as cell signaling, growth and differentiation (McBride et al., 2006). In addition, mitochondria have been shown to play a role in apoptosis (Green 1998). This antibody is an excellent marker for human cells in xenographic model research. It reacts specifically with human cells, including neurons and embryonic stem cells. Preparation and Storage Store at -20 degree C in undiluted aliquots; stable for up to one year after date of receipt. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Other Notes Small volumes of anti-Mitochondria antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
