Preparation and Storage    This antibody can be stored at 2 degree C- 8 degree C for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20 degree C to -80 degree C. Preservative-Free. Sodium azide is recommended to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). It is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
ISO Certification    Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Laboratory.
Other Notes    Small volumes of anti-SerpinD1  antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Related Product Information for anti-SerpinD1  antibody

SerpinD1, also known as heparin cofactor II (HCII), is a member of Serpin superfamily of the serine proteinase inhibitors. HCII is a glycoprotein in human plasma that inhibits thrombin and chymotrypsin, and the rate of inhibition of thrombin is rapidly increased by Dermatan sulfate (DS), heparin (H) and glycosaminoglycans (GAG). The stimulatory effect of glycosaminoglycans on the inhibition is mediated, in part, by the N-terminal acidic domain of HCII. Interestingly, a C-terminal His-tagged recombinant HCII exhibits enhanced activity of thrombin inhibition. It has been suggested that HCII plays an unique and important role in vascular homeostasis, and accordingly mutations in this gene or congenital HCII deficiency is potentially associated with thrombosis. HCII specifically inhibits thrombin action at the site of vascular wall injury and HCII-thrombin complexes have been detected in human plasma. HCII protects against thrombin-induced vascular remodeling in both humans and mice and suggest that HCII is a predictive biomarker and therapeutic target for atherosclerosis. SerpinD1 also inhibits chymotrypsin, but in a glycosaminoglycan-independent manner.

NCBI Summary for SerpinD1     This gene belongs to the serpin gene superfamily. Serpins play roles in many processes including inflammation, blood clotting, and cancer metastasis. Members of this family have highly conserved secondary structures with a reactive center loop that interacts with the protease active site to inhibit protease activity. This gene encodes a plasma serine protease that functions as a thrombin and chymotrypsin inhibitor. The protein is activated by heparin, dermatan sulfate, and glycosaminoglycans. Allelic variations in this gene are associated with heparin cofactor II deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]

UniProt Comments for SerpinD1     SERPIND1: Thrombin inhibitor activated by the glycosaminoglycans, heparin or dermatan sulfate. In the presence of the latter, HC-II becomes the predominant thrombin inhibitor in place of antithrombin III (AT-III). Also inhibits chymotrypsin, but in a glycosaminoglycan-independent manner. Defects in SERPIND1 are the cause of thrombophilia due to heparin cofactor 2 deficiency (THPH10). A hemostatic disorder characterized by a tendency to recurrent thrombosis. Belongs to the serpin family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q11.21

Cellular Component: extracellular region; extracellular space

Molecular Function: endopeptidase inhibitor activity; serine-type endopeptidase inhibitor activity

Biological Process: blood coagulation

Disease: Heparin Cofactor Ii Deficiency

Research Articles on SerpinD1     1. Molecular modelling of HCII 1-75 predicted those portions of the acidic extension that had been previously visualized in crystal structures, and suggested that an alpha-helix found between residues 26 and 36 stabilizes one found between residues 61-67.
