Related Product Information for anti-TRIOBP antibody

This gene encodes a protein that interacts with trio, which is involved with neural tissue development and controlling actin cytoskeleton organization, cell motility and cell growth. This trio-binding protein also associates with F-actin and stabilizes F-actin structures. Domains contained in this encoded protein are an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain and a C-terminal coiled-coil region. Mutations in this gene have been associated with a form of autosomal recessive nonsyndromic deafness. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants that would encode different isoforms have been found for this gene, however some transcripts may be subject to nonsense-mediated decay (NMD).  UniProt Comments for TRIOBP    Tara: May regulate actin cytoskeletal organization, cell spreading and cell contraction by directly binding and stabilizing filamentous F-actin. The localized formation of TARA and TRIO complexes coordinates the amount of F-actin present in stress fibers. May also serve as a linker protein to recruit proteins required for F-actin formation and turnover. Defects in TRIOBP are the cause of deafness autosomal recessive type 28 (DFNB28). 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal; Actin-binding; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.1

Cellular Component: focal adhesion; cytoplasm; microtubule organizing center; midbody; nucleus; actin cytoskeleton

Molecular Function: actin filament binding; ubiquitin protein ligase binding; GTP-Rho binding; myosin II binding

Biological Process: mitosis; actin modification; cell division; barbed-end actin filament capping

Disease: Deafness, Autosomal Recessive 28
