Preparation and Storage    Store at 2-8C. Do not freeze. The user must validate any other storage conditions. When properly stored, the reagent is stable to the date indicated on the label. Do not use the reagent beyond the expiration date.
There are no definitive signs to indicate instability of this product; therefore, positive and negative controls should be tested simultaneously with unknown specimens.
If unexpected results are observed which cannot be explained by variations in laboratory procedures and a problem with the reagent is suspected, contact Technical Support.
Other Notes    Small volumes of anti-VPAC1 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Related Product Information for anti-VPAC1 antibody

Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors 1 and 2, termed VPAC1 and VPAC2, are members of the 7 transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor family. Both receptors bind to VIP and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP). Interaction of VIP and VPAC1 inhibit megakaryocyte proliferation and induces proplatelet formation. VPAC1 is expressed in subset of mononuclear cells and it is highly expressed in some lung adenocarcinoma.
 Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-VPAC1 antibody

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS)

Application Notes for anti-VPAC1 antibody    IHC PROCEDURE:
Specimen Preparation: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues are suitable for use with this primary antibody.
Deparaffinization: Deparaffinize slides using xylene or xylene alternative and graded alcohols.
Antibody Dilution: If using the concentrate format of this product, dilute the antibody 1:100. The dilutions are estimates; actual results may differ because of variability in methods and protocols.
Antigen Retrieval: Boil tissue section in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 min followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Primary Antibody Incubation: Incubate for 10 minutes at room temperature.
Slide Washing: Slides must be washed in between steps. Rinse slides with PBS/0.05% Tween.
Visualization: Detect the antibody as instructed by the instructions provided with the visualization system.

Recommended starting protocol: Dilute the antibody 1:100. Incubate for 30 minutes at 4C.
The dilution id an estimate; actual results may differ because of variability in methods and protocols.
Optimal dilution and procedure should be determined by the end user.

NCBI Summary for VPAC1    This gene encodes a receptor for vasoactive intestinal peptide, a small neuropeptide. Vasoactive intestinal peptide is involved in smooth muscle relaxation, exocrine and endocrine secretion, and water and ion flux in lung and intestinal epithelia. Its actions are effected through integral membrane receptors associated with a guanine nucleotide binding protein which activates adenylate cyclase. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

UniProt Comments for VPAC1    VIPR1: This is a receptor for VIP. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. The affinity is VIP = PACAP-27 > PACAP-38. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 2; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p22

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; receptor complex

Molecular Function: protein binding; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein signaling, coupled to cyclic nucleotide second messenger; synaptic transmission; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; muscle contraction; digestion; positive regulation of cell proliferation; immune response
