Product Description specifically for anti-Avpr2 antibody

This product is specific for Arginine Vasopressin Receptor (AVPR-V2). The immunising peptide has no significant similarity with AVP V1a or V1b receptors.
 Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-Avpr2 antibody

Immunohistology Frozen, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB)

Application Notes for anti-Avpr2 antibody    Western Blot: A glycosylated band at approximately 62 kD is observed using membranes from rat inner medulla. N-Glycanase reduces the size of this band to 36 kD (deglycosylated form).

NCBI Summary for Avpr2    G-protein coupled receptor for arginine vasopressin; responsible for mediation of antidiuretic effect and changes in blood pressure [RGD, Feb 2006]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for Avpr2    AVPR2: Receptor for arginine vasopressin. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylate cyclase. Involved in renal water reabsorption. Defects in AVPR2 are the cause of nephrogenic syndrome of inappropriate antidiuresis (NSIAD). This disorder is characterized by an inability to excrete a free water load, with inappropriately concentrated urine and resultant hyponatremia, hypoosmolarity, and natriuresis. Defects in AVPR2 are the cause of diabetes insipidus nephrogenic X-linked (XNDI); also known as diabetes insipidus nephrogenic type 1. XNDI is caused by the inability of the renal collecting ducts to absorb water in response to arginine vasopressin. It is characterized by excessive water drinking (polydypsia), excessive urine excretion (polyuria), persistent hypotonic urine, and hypokalemia. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. Vasopressin/oxytocin receptor subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, GPCR; Transporter; Transporter, aquaporin family

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; integral to membrane; intracellular

Molecular Function: peptide hormone binding; vasopressin receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; telencephalon development; regulation of systemic arterial blood pressure by vasopressin; response to cytokine stimulus; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of vasoconstriction; interferon-gamma production; positive regulation of systemic arterial blood pressure; positive regulation of blood pressure; cellular response to hormone stimulus

Research Articles on Avpr2    1. Data suggest that vasopressin receptors V1b (Avpr1b) and V2 (Avpr2) in neurons of cerebral ventricles mediate stress-induced baroreflex desensitization enabling concurrent hypertension and tachycardia.
