Related Product Information for anti-ANXA4 antibody

Annexin IV, also known as placental anticoagulant protein II, or zymogen granule membrane-associated protein, 36-KD (ZAP36), is one of the family of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins whose normal function is uncertain. Annexin IV has 45 to 59% identity with other members of the annexin family. Annexin IV gene spans 18 to 56 kb. And it is located on mouse chromosome 6 in a region of conserved synteny with human chromosome 2. Rat annexin IV is ubiquitously expressed in epithelial tissues. Zap36 associated with zymogen granule membranes in dog and rat pancreas. Human annexin IV gene is mapped to chromosome 2p13.

NCBI Summary for ANXA4    Annexin IV (ANX4) belongs to the annexin family of calcium-dependent phospholipid binding proteins. Although their functions are still not clearly defined, several members of the annexin family have been implicated in membrane-related events along exocytotic and endocytotic pathways. ANX4 has 45 to 59% identity with other members of its family and shares a similar size and exon-intron organization. Isolated from human placenta, ANX4 encodes a protein that has possible interactions with ATP, and has in vitro anticoagulant activity and also inhibits phospholipase A2 activity. ANX4 is almost exclusively expressed in epithelial cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for ANXA4    ANXA4: a calcium/phospholipid-binding protein which promotes membrane fusion and is involved in exocytosis. Annexins are a family of structurally related proteins whose common property is calcium-dependent binding to phospholipids. There are at least ten different annexins in mammalian species. Annexins do not contain signal peptides, yet some annexins (A1, A2 and A5) appear to be secreted in a physiologically regulated fashion.

Protein type: Calcium-binding; Lipid-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p13

Cellular Component: nuclear membrane; cell surface; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; vesicle membrane; nucleus

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; NF-kappaB binding; phospholipase inhibitor activity; calcium-dependent phospholipid binding; calcium ion binding; calcium-dependent protein binding
