Preparation and Storage    Store at 2-8 degree C. Do not freeze. The user must validate any other storage conditions. When properly stored, the reagent is stable to the date indicated on the label. Do not use the reagent beyond the expiration date. There are no definitive signs to indicate instability of this product; therefore, positive and negative controls should be tested simultaneously with unknown specimens. If unexpected results are observed which cannot be explained by variations in laboratory procedures and a problem with the reagent is suspected, contact Technical Support.
Other Notes    Small volumes of anti-CALB1 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Related Product Information for anti-CALB1 antibody

Calbindin D28 (also termed vitamin D-dependent calcium-binding protein or cholecalcin), is a highly conserved 28kDa calcium-binding protein, with broad tissue distribution. It belongs, together with calmodulin, S-100, parvalbumin, troponin C and other proteins, to a family of low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins (CaBPs). These CaBPs have homologous primary structures, which contain conserved polypeptide folds of the EF-hand type for Ca2+ binding. Calbindin D28 is found predominantly in subpopulations of central and peripheral nervous system neurons, and in certain epithelial nervous system neurons, and in certain epithelial cells involved in Ca2+ transport such as distal tubular cells and cortical collecting tubules of the kidney, and in enteric neuroendocrine cells.
 Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-CALB1 antibody

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB)

Application Notes for anti-CALB1 antibody    Immunohistochemistry Procedure
Specimen Preparation: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues are suitable for use with this primary antibody. Deparaffinization: Deparaffinize slides using xylene or xylene alternative and graded alcohols. Antibody Dilution: If using the concentrate format of this product, dilute the antibody 1:400. The dilutions are estimates; actual results may differ because of variability in methods and protocols. Antigen Retrieval: Boil tissue section in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 min followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min. Primary Antibody Incubation: Incubate for 10 minutes at room temperature. Slide Washing: Slides must be washed in between steps. Rinse slides with PBS/0.05% Tween. Visualization: Detect the antibody as instructed by the instructions provided with the visualization system.
Immunohistochemistry Dilution: 1:400
IHC Positive Control: Kidney, Cerebellum

Western Blot
Recommended Starting Protocol: Dilute the antibody 1:25. Incubate for 1 hour at room temperature. The dilution is an estimate; actual results may differ because of variability in methods and protocols. Optimal dilution and procedure should be determined by the end user
Western Blot Positive Control: Kidney Cell Lysate

NCBI Summary for CALB1    The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the calcium-binding protein superfamily that includes calmodulin and troponin C. Originally described as a 27 kDa protein, it is now known to be a 28 kDa protein. It contains four active calcium-binding domains, and has two modified domains that are thought to have lost their calcium binding capability. This protein is thought to buffer entry of calcium upon stimulation of glutamate receptors. Depletion of this protein was noted in patients with Huntington disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
