Product Description specifically for anti-DERL2 antibody

Proteins that are unfolded or misfolded in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) must be refolded or degraded to maintain the homeostasis of the ER. DERL2 is involved in the degradation of misfolded glycoproteins in the ER.

NCBI Summary for DERL2    Proteins that are unfolded or misfolded in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) must be refolded or degraded to maintain the homeostasis of the ER. DERL2 is involved in the degradation of misfolded glycoproteins in the ER (Oda et al., 2006 [PubMed 16449189]).[supplied by OMIM]

UniProt Comments for DERL2    DERL2: Functional component of endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) for misfolded lumenal glycoproteins, but not that of misfolded nonglycoproteins. May act by forming a channel that allows the retrotranslocation of misfolded glycoproteins into the cytosol where they are ubiquitinated and degraded by the proteasome. May mediate the interaction between VCP and the degradation substrate. In contrast to DERL1, it is not involved in the degradation of MHC class I heavy chains following infection by cytomegaloviruses. May play a role in cell proliferation. Belongs to the derlin family.

Protein type: Endoplasmic reticulum; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.2

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; membrane; endoplasmic reticulum; early endosome; late endosome; integral to endoplasmic reticulum membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: retrograde protein transport, ER to cytosol; ER-associated protein catabolic process; suckling behavior; unfolded protein response; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of cell growth
