 Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-HMGA1 antibody

Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB)

Application Notes for anti-HMGA1 antibody    Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 16000.
Western Blot: Approx 24kDa band observed in Human Pancreas (calculated MW of 11.7kDa/10.7kDa according to NP_665906.1; NP_002122.1). The observed molecular weight corresponds to earlier findings with different antibodies from other commercial sources. This band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. Recommended concentration: 0.5-1ug/ml.
Section Bar
Western Blot (WB) of anti-HMGA1 antibody    (0.5ug/ml) staining of Human Pancreas lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer) with (B) and without (A) blocking with the immunising peptide. Primary incubation was 1 hour. Detected by chemiluminescence.

NCBI Summary for HMGA1    This gene encodes a chromatin-associated protein involved in the regulation of gene transcription, integration of retroviruses into chromosomes, and the metastatic progression of cancer cells. The encoded protein preferentially binds to the minor groove of AT-rich regions in double-stranded DNA. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Pseudogenes of this gene have been identified on multiple chromosomes. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for HMGA1    HMGA1: HMG-I/Y bind preferentially to the minor groove of A+T rich regions in double stranded DNA. It is suggested that these proteins could function in nucleosome phasing and in the 3'-end processing of mRNA transcripts. They are also involved in the transcription regulation of genes containing, or in close proximity to A+T-rich regions. A chromosomal aberration involving HMGA1 is found in pulmonary chondroid hamartoma. Translocation t(6;14)(p21;q23-24) with RAD51B. Belongs to the HMGA family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p21
