Related Product Information for anti-HMMR antibody

The receptor for hyaluronan mediated motility has been reported to mediate migration, transformation, and metastatic spread of murine fibroblasts. In human, it is expressed as an intracellular protein in breast cancer cells. No correlation between the level of HMMR mRNA and protein expression with known metastatic/malignant potential of the tumor cell lines was observed.

NCBI Summary for HMMR    The protein encoded by this gene is involved in cell motility. It is expressed in breast tissue and together with other proteins, it forms a complex with BRCA1 and BRCA2, thus is potentially associated with higher risk of breast cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for HMMR    HMMR: Involved in cell motility. When hyaluronan binds to HMMR, the phosphorylation of a number of proteins, including PTK2/FAK1 occurs. May also be involved in cellular transformation and metastasis formation, and in regulating extracellular- regulated kinase (ERK) activity. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q34

Cellular Component: cell surface; membrane; cytoplasm; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: hyaluronic acid binding

Biological Process: glycosaminoglycan metabolic process; carbohydrate metabolic process; pathogenesis; hyaluronan metabolic process; hyaluronan catabolic process

Disease: Breast Cancer
