Preparation and Storage    Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 4 degree C for frequent use.
Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
Other Notes    Small volumes of anti-HPX antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for HPX    a heme binding globulin protein [RGD, Feb 2006]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for HPX    HPX: Binds heme and transports it to the liver for breakdown and iron recovery, after which the free hemopexin returns to the circulation. Belongs to the hemopexin family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q32

Cellular Component: cell; extracellular space

Molecular Function: heme transporter activity; metal ion binding

Biological Process: cellular iron ion homeostasis; heme metabolic process; heme transport; hemoglobin metabolic process; positive regulation of humoral immune response mediated by circulating immunoglobulin; positive regulation of immunoglobulin production; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of STAT protein; regulation of protein metabolic process

Research Articles on HPX    1. Data suggest that apo-hemopexin isolated from plasma exchibits low endogenous levels of tyrosine nitration in the peptide YYCFQGNQFLR in the heme-binding site of human hemopexin, which was similarly nitrated in rabbit and rat hemopexins; heme binding by hemopexin declined as tyrosine nitration proceeded in vitro.
