Other Notes    Small volumes of anti-LUM antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for LUM purchase    As the name suggests, Lumican - LUM - is a constituent keratan sulfate proteoglycan family gene matrix protein with transparent properties required in human cornea and is also a known MMP proteins inhibitor. IHC, ELISA or western blot analysis to study these important roles require specific marker antibodies; an anti lumican antibody. An affinity purified and carefully selected rabbit anti lumican polyclonal custom antibody has been under development using peptide antibody production techniques and is available for research protocols to look at cell lysates or tissue localizations. This product, lum antibody and similar protein family antibodies, are easily detected by common secondary antibodies, such as goat anti rabbit, with Alexa 174 fluor or AMP conjugations. Further, no cross reactivity is noted for mouse or rat only human LUM. IHC WB datasheet describing additional services for custom antibody production or suggestions for loading control for WB make complete polyclonal antibody kits.

NCBI Summary for LUM    This gene encodes a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family that includes decorin, biglycan, fibromodulin, keratocan, epiphycan, and osteoglycin. In these bifunctional molecules, the protein moiety binds collagen fibrils and the highly charged hydrophilic glycosaminoglycans regulate interfibrillar spacings. Lumican is the major keratan sulfate proteoglycan of the cornea but is also distributed in interstitial collagenous matrices throughout the body. Lumican may regulate collagen fibril organization and circumferential growth, corneal transparency, and epithelial cell migration and tissue repair. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
