Preparation and Storage    Store at 2-8 degree C. Do not freeze. The user must validate any other storage conditions. When properly stored, the reagent is stable to the date indicated on the label. Do not use the reagent beyond the expiration date. There are no definitive signs to indicate instability of this product; therefore, positive and negative controls should be tested simultaneously with unknown specimens. If unexpected results are observed which cannot be explained by variations in laboratory procedures and a problem with the reagent is suspected, contact Technical Support.
Other Notes    Small volumes of anti-OCT2 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Related Product Information for anti-OCT2 antibody

Oct-2 is a transcription factor belonging to the POU homeo-domain family that binds to the Ig gene octomer sites regulating B cell specific genes. Oct-2 protein expression is not restricted to B cells, although expression levels are much higher in these cells. Oct-2 expression is reported to be significantly greater in germinal center derived lymphomas, although other B cell lymphomas also display high levels of expression.
 Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-OCT2 antibody

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin

Application Notes for anti-OCT2 antibody    Immunohistochemistry Procedure
Specimen Preparation: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues are suitable for use with this primary antibody. Deparaffinization: Deparaffinize slides using xylene or xylene alternative and graded alcohols. Antibody Dilution: If using the concentrate format of this product, dilute the antibody 1:50. The dilutions are estimates; actual results may differ because of variability in methods and protocols. Antigen Retrieval: Boil tissue section in 10mM Citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 min followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min. Primary Antibody Incubation: Incubate for 30 minutes at room temperature. Slide Washing: Slides must be washed in between steps. Rinse slides with PBS/0.05% Tween. Visualization: Detect the antibody as instructed by the instructions provided with the visualization system.
Immunohistochemistry Dilution: 1:50
IHC Positive Control: Tonsil

NCBI Summary for OCT2    The protein encoded by this gene is a homeobox-containing transcription factor of the POU domain family. The encoded protein binds the octamer sequence 5'-ATTTGCAT-3', a common transcription factor binding site in immunoglobulin gene promoters. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for OCT2    Oct2: Transcription factor that specifically binds to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3'). Regulates transcription in a number of tissues in addition to activating immunoglobulin gene expression. Modulates transcription transactivation by NR3C1, AR and PGR. Isoform 5 activates the U2 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) promoter. Belongs to the POU transcription factor family. Class- 2 subfamily. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein domain specific binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: immunoglobulin secretion during immune response; transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; mature B cell differentiation; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; cell maturation; humoral immune response
